The musicologist Professor emerita Dr. Silke Leopold from Heidelberg will receive the City of Halle Handel Prize 2019, which is awarded by the Handel House Foundation. This was announced by the Lord Mayor of Halle, Dr. Bernd Wiegand, on 13th Nov 2018 at a press conference in the Handel House. The award ceremony will take place on 1th June 2019, 10 am, in the Stadthaus am Markt as part of the festival lecture of the prizewinner „Von A(thalia) bis Z(enobia): Händels Galerie der starken Frauen” (in German only) and the following short concert “Handel’s female characters”.
